What moves the price
- 2MP PoERs 4,000 – 7,000
- The workhorse. Enough for a corridor, a counter or a gate where you know who to expect.
- 4MP, ColorVu or AcuSenseRs 7,000 – 14,000
- Colour at night, or human and vehicle filtering. The upgrade that makes footage worth reviewing.

Common questions
- Do I need a PoE switch for IP cameras?
- Either a PoE switch or an NVR with PoE ports built in. Without one you need a separate power supply at every camera, which usually costs more in labour than the switch does in parts.
- Can IP cameras work with my existing DVR?
- Generally no — a DVR is built for analog and AHD over coax. IP cameras need an NVR. If you are part-way through a migration, some hybrid recorders take both, and we can tell you whether yours does.
