Frequently asked questions
Buying electronics online in Nepal usually comes down to four worries: is it genuine, when does it turn up, how do I pay, and what happens when it breaks. Here is where we stand on all four.
Buying and delivery
- Is Good Gadgets Nepal a real shop I can walk into?
- Yes. Our shop and repair workshop is at Sankata Mandir, New Road, Kathmandu, open 10:00 to 19:00, seven days a week. You are welcome to come in, handle the device before you buy it, and take it away the same day.
- How do I pay?
- Cash on delivery is available on orders over Rs 2,000 — you pay the rider when the box is in your hands. You can also pay by eSewa or bank transfer, and orders under Rs 2,000 are settled that way before they ship.
- How long does delivery take, and what does it cost?
- Orders inside the Kathmandu valley usually arrive in one to two days. Everywhere else in Nepal is normally three to five days, depending on the courier route to your district. Delivery is free on orders over Rs 2,000; below that the charge is shown at checkout before you confirm.
- Can I return something if I change my mind?
- No — we do not run a change-of-mind return window, so it is worth being certain before you order. A genuine fault is different: that is covered by warranty, handled by our own technicians rather than sent to the manufacturer. Ask us before you buy if you are unsure whether something fits, and come into the shop to see it first if you can.
- Is the stock genuine?
- We buy through the official distribution channel and test every unit in-house before it goes out. If a product is refurbished or used rather than new, it is listed and priced as used — you will never find that hidden in the small print.
- What happens if a product fails under warranty?
- You come to us, not to the manufacturer. Warranty is tracked per part against your order, so we can look up what cover a specific item has and handle the claim ourselves rather than sending you between vendors.
- Do you deliver outside the Kathmandu valley?
- Yes, we deliver across Nepal — Pokhara, Biratnagar, Butwal, Dharan and the rest. Valley orders run on our own riders; outside the valley we hand over to a courier and send you the tracking.
- Do you repair phones and tablets as well?
- No. We repair laptops and desktop PCs only. For anything else we would rather tell you straight than take the device in and hand it back untouched.
- Can you help me build a custom PC?
- Yes. The PC Builder on the site checks part compatibility and live stock as you go, and we assemble, cable and install Windows before it leaves the bench. You can also bring us a parts list you have already chosen.
- Do you supply businesses and resellers?
- Yes. We fit out offices, shops and schools with CCTV, networking, PABX and POS hardware, and we quote bulk pricing on request. Apply through the Sell With Us page if you want to trade with us as a vendor.
Laptop and desktop repair
- How long does a laptop repair usually take at Good Gadgets Nepal?
- Most common laptop repairs at our New Road workshop are finished within 24 to 48 hours, depending on the fault and on parts availability. Good Gadgets Nepal gives you a time estimate along with the quote, before any work starts.
- What does it cost to find out what is wrong?
- Good Gadgets Nepal diagnoses the fault first and comes back to you with a fixed price for the repair. Nothing is charged and no parts are ordered until you have approved that quote, so you never pay for work you did not agree to.
- Do I need an appointment, or can I just walk in?
- You can walk straight into our shop near Sankata Mandir on New Road, Kathmandu, during opening hours, or book a slot online if you prefer a confirmed time. Either way, the device goes on the bench in the same order it arrives.
- Do you use genuine or original parts?
- We use original or original-equivalent parts matched to your specific model, and we tell you in advance if a part is original-equivalent rather than OEM. The exact part we plan to use is written into the quote so there are no surprises.
- Is there a warranty on the repair work?
- Yes. Repairs at Good Gadgets Nepal carry a three-month warranty on the work done and the parts fitted as standard. The exact cover for your job is recorded on the ticket you receive when you book.
- Which laptop brands do you service?
- We service Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Apple MacBook, MSI, Microsoft Surface, Toshiba, Samsung, Gigabyte and Razer laptops at our New Road workshop. If your brand is not on the list, get in touch and we will confirm whether we can still help.
- Can you recover data from a laptop that will not turn on?
- In many cases, yes. Our technicians can pull the storage out of a dead laptop, read it on our bench hardware, and copy your files to a new drive before any repair or wipe is done. Data recovery is quoted separately and only goes ahead once you have approved the cost.
- Do you offer collection and delivery in Kathmandu valley?
- Yes, Good Gadgets Nepal offers collection and delivery across the Kathmandu valley, including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kirtipur, Madhyapur Thimi and Budhanilkantha. Pickup and drop-off are scheduled around the repair window so you are without your device for as little time as possible.
