    Desktop PC Repair in Kathmandu

Towers, workstations and gaming builds — Sankata Mandir, New Road.

A desktop that will not power on, a monitor stuck on no signal, a machine that has slowed to a crawl, or fans that scream through a dust-clogged heatsink. We test to the failing part rather than replacing whole boxes, and quote before we touch anything.

What we repair on desktop PCs

Desktop no power and PSU replacement

Desktops that will not turn on are diagnosed down to the power supply, front-panel headers, or motherboard power rails, and the failed part is replaced. The new PSU is tested under load before the PC leaves the bench.

    • nothing happens when the power button is pressed
    • power button LED is dead
    • PC clicks once and stays off
    • random restarts under light use

Desktop no display and graphics card repair

When the fans spin but no signal reaches the monitor, we test the graphics card, its power cables and the display output to find the real cause. A failing GPU is repaired where possible, or swapped for a matched replacement with your approval first.

    • fans spin but monitor says no signal
    • screen shows coloured blocks or artefacts
    • display only works on the integrated port
    • black screen on boot then restarts

Desktop SSD upgrade and slow performance fix

Old spinning hard drives are swapped for a solid-state drive, with the existing Windows install cloned over so your programs and files stay where they were. The BIOS is updated to recognize the new drive correctly and the boot order is checked.

    • Windows takes over a minute to reach the desktop
    • programs take a long time to open
    • hard drive makes clicking or grinding sounds
    • freezes when copying large files

Desktop blue screen and Windows reinstall

Recurring blue screens, update loops and slow boots are fixed with a clean Windows reinstall once we have ruled out failing RAM or storage. Drivers, Windows updates and your choice of essential apps are set up before the machine is returned.

    • blue screen appears within minutes of starting Windows
    • PC reboots during Windows updates
    • boot loops at the loading logo
    • constant low-memory warnings

Desktop dust cleaning and cooling service

A full internal clean that pulls dust out of the heatsinks, fans, filters and power supply so airflow and temperatures return to factory levels. Thermal paste is reapplied where it has dried out, which often brings temperatures down by a noticeable margin.

    • fans ramp up to maximum during simple tasks
    • PC case feels hot to the touch
    • thermal throttling in games or video edits
    • visible dust clogging the intake vents

    Desktop custom build and upgrades

We assemble new PCs from a parts list you provide or help you design, including cable management, BIOS setup and the first Windows install. Existing desktops can also be upgraded with a newer GPU, more storage or a larger case.

    • want a new PC built from a parts list
    • graphics card upgrade for gaming or editing
    • adding more storage or a second drive
    • moving parts into a larger or quieter case

    Repair questions, answered

How long does a laptop repair usually take at Good Gadgets Nepal?

Most common laptop repairs at our New Road workshop are finished within 24 to 48 hours, depending on the fault and on parts availability. Good Gadgets Nepal gives you a time estimate along with the quote, before any work starts.

What does it cost to find out what is wrong?

Good Gadgets Nepal diagnoses the fault first and comes back to you with a fixed price for the repair. Nothing is charged and no parts are ordered until you have approved that quote, so you never pay for work you did not agree to.

Do I need an appointment, or can I just walk in?

You can walk straight into our shop near Sankata Mandir on New Road, Kathmandu, during opening hours, or book a slot online if you prefer a confirmed time. Either way, the device goes on the bench in the same order it arrives.

Do you use genuine or original parts?

We use original or original-equivalent parts matched to your specific model, and we tell you in advance if a part is original-equivalent rather than OEM. The exact part we plan to use is written into the quote so there are no surprises.

Is there a warranty on the repair work?

Yes. Repairs at Good Gadgets Nepal carry a three-month warranty on the work done and the parts fitted as standard. The exact cover for your job is recorded on the ticket you receive when you book.

Which laptop brands do you service?

We service Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Apple MacBook, MSI, Microsoft Surface, Toshiba, Samsung, Gigabyte and Razer laptops at our New Road workshop. If your brand is not on the list, get in touch and we will confirm whether we can still help.

Can you recover data from a laptop that will not turn on?

In many cases, yes. Our technicians can pull the storage out of a dead laptop, read it on our bench hardware, and copy your files to a new drive before any repair or wipe is done. Data recovery is quoted separately and only goes ahead once you have approved the cost.

Do you offer collection and delivery in Kathmandu valley?

Yes, Good Gadgets Nepal offers collection and delivery across the Kathmandu valley, including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kirtipur, Madhyapur Thimi and Budhanilkantha. Pickup and drop-off are scheduled around the repair window so you are without your device for as little time as possible.
